What is FloorScore® Certification?
FloorScore is the industry’s most trusted third-party verification system, used by every company that considers the health of their customers important. FloorScore certification is granted by SCS following unbiased testing and auditing. They are a trusted third-party group dedicated to driving environmentally sound, science-based standards. SCS Global Services (SCS) has been providing global leadership in third-party quality, environmental and sustainability verification, certification, auditing, testing, and standards development for three decades. Its programs span a cross-section of industries, recognizing achievements in green building, product manufacturing, food and agriculture, forestry, power generation retail, and more. What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)?
When we are talking about the safety of the environment in flooring and other building materials, we are talking about VOCs. VOCs are volatile organic compounds, gases that are released from materials as they degrade overtime. The goal is to eliminate as many VOCs from the environment as possible, and absolutely avoid those that are harmful to you or anybody’s health—especially those caused by added chemicals and adhesives. FloorScore measures and monitors the VOCs in floorings, and certifies those which are safe and environmentally friendly to use. Keeping an eye on VOCs is especially important in flooring, since it affects the whole house, and stays in the house.

Most environmentally friendly building standards reconcile FloorsScore for credits, including WELL, LEED v4, CHPS and BREEAM.
